Color Dare 194 - Bravo card

Color Dare 194

For this week's Color Dare challenge, I broke out the watercolors for this card that gets to show up again at a workshop I'm teaching in early June.

I started with a piece of watercolor paper cut to 3.75" x 5" and masked off the squares with some washi tape torn in half to give the squares a more jagged look.  I just eyeballed my sections, if you want to break out a ruler to get them more precise....go for it!

Then I gave the whole thing a quick "once over" with plain water and used the Sapphire blue on the top two rows and switched to Crystal Blue for the bottom half of the page. Go ahead and leave the washi tape on while it dries to keep it nice and flat.

Once the base is dry, remove the washi tape and mask the right side of the card with a piece of scrap paper.  Use the splatter technique with black ink on the left side of the card.  Once the whole piece is dry, stamp the title and mount the watercolor paper on a piece of Sapphire blue paper and mount on your card base.

SWAA Calypso or Beach Blog Hop

This is the Stampers with Attitude blog hop featuring the new Calypso paper packet and/or a beach theme.  If you are coming from Wendy's blog you are in the right spot.

I made an anniversary card for my in-law's featuring the Calypso paper packet.

For this card, I used a 5.5" square card and cut a base in the pink Calypso paper to 5.5" x 5.5" and cut the zip strip in half for the edges.  Then I cut the heart found on page 35 of the Artfully Sent Cricut Cartridge at 7" from White Daisy paper.  I hand cut the heart from the card base but am sure this can also be done in the Design Studio. (I just haven't branched out to that yet and time was getting away on me so I went with what I know!) Then I used a small heart I had on hand, topped it with some glitter to give it a bit of shine and added a few Clear Gems. Next, I cut the title from the Artbooking Cricut Cartridge found on page 47 at 1.5" real dial size from Cotton Candy paper.  Inside, I stamped "Happy Anniversary" and left room to include a personal note.

The products used for this fun card can all be found on my Close To My Heart website.

I'm the end of the line for this hop but if you joined in the middle or want to start over then head on to Catherine's blog to see what she's got to share with us.

Color Dare 193 - Birthday Card

Color Dare 193

I missed out on the last couple of Color Dare challenges due to a crazy work and travel schedule.  I'm back this week showcasing a birthday card from the Georgie color palette. Here's my entry:

I used the Georgie paper pack for the base, added a layer of the yellow paper and then cut some gears found on page 38 & 39 from the Artiste Cricut cartridge. Next, I stamped Happy Birthday in Juniper pigment ink, heat embossed it and fussy cut for the title.

Supplies used:

  • Georgie paper pack
  • Juniper paper
  • Artiste Cricut Cartridge
  • B1419 - Joyful Birthday stamp set
  • E1029 - Marquee Alphabet stamp set
